Beirut for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (BETA) rescues stray and abused dogs then re-homes them. But in 2015, BETA's shelter was full and the Lebanese weren't interested in adopting. And so xpatpets.com was born -  a program that finds Lebanese dogs homes abroad. And at home it generated controversy that increased local adoptions and put animal rights back on top of the list - with the Lebanese parliament approving an animal protection and welfare law against animal cruelty, shortly after the campaign.
